now look at the C/system drive and see if the boot files are there, open boot.ini file with notepad and copy and paste into reply

you should be seeing ntdetect, config, autoexec, ntldr, etc

Well I didn't think what you have would even work, windows won't boot unless
there's an active partition, I have seen boot files on other partitions from the system partition.

the next step is dangerous, cause you might not get it to boot after making the change, afaik the only thing keeping c from booting is setting that partition active

large drive will need to be set to active in disk management

if the computer booted with large drive as master then bios is set to auto

you will have to change large drive jumper to standalone master when you
                        remove the pos drive

alright chewy before i go to work heres where i stand!

I disconnected the old HDD and set the new HDD jumper to PM2 i dont know what that is and it boots up fine there is also one right next to it that is not labeled and it boots up fine what is the unlabeled one and should i just leave it on pm2

P.S. my new samsung drive is still slower then dirt !!

the order of the jumpers from left to right is if you already didnt know i dont know if they are always the same order
                          cs sl ms blank pm2

it now shows that dma is multi word dma 5 or something like that.
Surely we are getting close to getting that new drive figured out right ?? Am i going to need a diffrent HDD for that one to run at its proper speed for that is all that i am really after here.

regards and thanks so much for all you have done for me chewy honestly sorry if ive been a pain

for the newer drive as single drive(no other drive on cable)
western digital drives are unique in this regard

let's make sure we have the jumpers set right for the hard drive

                                too confusing
