I have a sata drive but to have my mother board or windows identify it,windows wants a floppy installed during a windows setup. Is there another way of getting this done?

Did your mainboard come w/ a driver CD? If so, you could copy the files from the CD over to a floppy.

If you have the WinXP with SP2 installation CD, it will recognize it by default.

just extract those to a folder, then copy fold contents to a floppy

                read the directions

@ mill .... Not positive, but I think that is taken care of in those 7 reinstall discs. Don't think you'll have to worry about the floppy issue ... guess it might depend on how old that box is ?

                    Edit:

Worse case is you will need the floopy, no big deal, other than having to have a floppy drive installed. F6 is the key when prompted by XP install.

See HERE, plus you could google a few others !!
