What is an IDE 80 cable? For some reason all the sudden, I don't have one.

That would be the 80 pin cable for your hard drive or optical drive. One end going to the ATA133/IDE controler (on motherboard or separate) and the other end having the two 80 pin master and slave connectors. -
That seems odd, it could be a bad cable, but something shouldnt be working, I would open it up and check all the cables for being loose. Have you looked in error logs to see if there is any more information? right click my computer > manage > system tools > event viewer. Maybe there is more info about the situation.Comment
