Help shrinking Sony hard drive video

I need help shrinking my sony hard drive dcr-sr100 camcorder video to fit on a single dvd. It is a new camera with Image Mixer Software (included).
I have downloaded DVD Shrink 3.2.

I can't seem to coordinate the burn.

Does anyone have any experience with these tools?

    Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Does the video you have open in dvd shrink?

are you just trying to get it to burn, or are you having a problem opening the video files in shrink?

        Ok,

For your video to open in shrink it must be a DVD compatible file format first.

What type of file is your video? Is it .avi ?

My Handycam downloads into Imagemixer (I can burn from this). However, I usually have too many images to burn all onto one dvd.

I was told that dvd shrink would help compress the entire file.

I don't know what type it is. How would I find out?

            Yes and NO

Ok what I mean is dvd shrink will compress the video so you can make it all fit but again it will only work with or open dvd compatable files.

Camcorders dont recored in dvd compatable files.
Therefore you will need to convert the files, I was asking what type of file you are recording in the try to send you to the right place on more information as how to convert the files and what programs to use.

Now there are dvd players that will play these other non compatable dvd files but if you want to use shrink to shrink them down they will have to be converted to a file format that shrink can read.

To find out what type of file your video is go to one of the video files and right click on it then click properties and it will show what it is.

              Video angel,

would you be willing to talk me thru this if I called you directly from my office at 1pm today?

I am very confused and webtalk is not helping me.

If you are more comfortable I am happy to give you my number. I am at work in Torrington, Connecticut.

To be honest I wouldnt mind doing that but I am acpecting a phone interview for a job at 1 PM so I cant tie up my phone line for this reason.

Locate one of you video files you want to shrink, then right click on that file a drop list should open up then chose proerties and click on that. That should tell you the file suck as. .avi, or .MPEG that is what you will be looking for.

I am willing to bet you probably are recording as .AVI
But I am not familiar with your recorder either there are so many of them out there these days.

Ok new we are getting some where.

                      This may offer some help:

Talk about general digital video topics not part of the categories/forums below

Then this forum should be of more help.
Talk about the TMPGEnc line of software, including TMPGEnc Express, MPEG Editor and TMPGEnc DVD Author

                      P.S.
There is no Help phone line this is a freeware program so there is no customer service or tech support by phone. That is why we have this forum.

Just hang in there you will get all of the answers that you are looking for here.

                              You dont.

You have to convert the file to a dvd compatable format .avi, MPEG are not dvd video files, shrink wont open those.

I sent you links to show you how to convert the files.

You will have to do some reading this is a more advanced project.
