It shouldn't matter if it is wireless. I have a wireless sharing on 3 computers and each computer can see each other on the network. My main PC is hardwired to the router but the others are all wireless.

The biggest and most popular reason for problems is make sure any firewalls is configured properly. As a test, turn them of temporily to see if a connection is made.

Also, when running the network wizard it is important to select "residential gateway" as the connection to the internet. It only seems to work for me if I select that option.

what's the OS for the main computer? Have you run the network setup wizard on it again since changing the laptop? You have to dot every I and cross every T with this networking. All kinds of things can confuse it.
Windoze firewire bridges are the ones I hate most.

go to my network places/entire network/microsoft windows network/workgroup name?(should be exactly the same and only 1 should show up)/then you should see the computers listed

Thanks Chewy I just coming to say I got it...was something stupid I didnt see but I guess it was blocking me....I had the DMZplus mode check thinking it would let me do everything on my laptop and it did but blocked the home network so I unchecked it to see if anything would happen and walla there was all my shared stuff on both computers....didnt think that mode would block me from local network...how wierd

Edit firewall settings for this computer:
Maximum protection – Disallow unsolicited inbound traffic.
Allow individual application(s) – Choose the application(s) that will be enabled to pass through the firewall to this computer. Click ADD to add it to the Hosted Applications list.
All applications Games Audio/video Messaging and Internet Phone Servers Other User-defined Hosted Applications:

                      • Add a new user-defined application
Allow all applications (DMZplus mode) – Set the selected computer in DMZplus mode. All inbound traffic, except traffic which has been specifically assigned to another computer using the “Allow individual applications” feature, will automatically be directed to this computer. The DMZplus-enabled computer is less secure because all unassigned firewall ports are opened for that computer.
