DVD Shrink Format Problem

Hi. Firstly i'm sorry if this has a really obvious answer and/or has been brought up many times before. I did a search but i didn't delve into it too deeply, but there didn't seem to be what i was looking for.

I would like to write my .AVI files to a DVD disk. I downloaded DVD shrinker because the file sizes are too big to fit on one disk normally. When i try and put my .AVI files into the DVD shrinker it says "Invalid filename". Is there a particular format that the movie should be in in order to be shrunk? And if so, how do i convert my .AVI files into it?

Sorry i have yet another problem.

I puy my .AVI file into the AVI2DVD program and run it. It goes along fine, until this error popup appears:

Avisynth open failure
AVISource: couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc xvid
(C:\Documents and Settings\Andy\My Documents\My Videos\Test\Avi2dvd_temo\Avisynth_Script_File.avs, line 2)

ANy ideas what this is and how/if i can fix it?

It's interesting you mentioned that because lately when I click on Back-up, select a folder to back-up in and when I click on OK, I sometimes get an ISO file name error and I'm doing what I've always done when it worked. One time when this happened, I clicked on Back-up and clicked on OK and things were fine and the Back-up started. I never adjusted anything in the settings, the DVD Shrink seemed to fix itself. Other times I have to repeat the same thing about twelve time with a constant Back-up click and an OK click and that's when it worked about twelve attempts later. Sometimes I get a different and bigger error in-between about DVD Shrink encountering an error and I wonder where that comes from and it goes out of the blue and the ISO file name failure error returns moments later and then the Back-up works itself. Very strange. When I burn my DVDs with IMGBurn I've suddenly had a lot of problems where the burning stops for a minute and I get a message in the log file telling me about something recovering and the burning continues. Sometimes my DVDs don't always play all the way through when that happens. One got half-way through a film and the disc ejected itself. I'm wondering if one or both of those errors in the Back-up section in the DVD Shrink caused the burning and play back problems due to the DVD Shrink fixing the Back-up errors itself. Something might have still been wrong that the DVD Shrink never detected.
