    Cheap Computer Hardware

I realized I've asked this tons of times before, hopefully this will be the last I'll need to

Now that I got a bunch of money for my birthday, I want to buy some things like a new DVD burner, possibly a new hard drive (but no SATA as I don't have SATA), etc.

What do you guys reccomend that's also cheap?

Start browsing newegg! About the most reasonable place I've found to buy from!

Stay away from Tiger Direct. Worst customer service in the industry and every "great deal" is tied to a rebate you may never get. Phone support is nonexistent.

Well, my DVD drive is really dying on me now, so I need a new one ASAP.

Chewy, any good ones on Newegg you'd reccomend? That won't break either? LOL

But is that specific LG good?

I noticed it has 18x burning, don't they have to make 18x media first?

I've been through several burners lately and have two new ones that I'm quite impressed with. They are both overkill really on burn speed since I limit my speed to 8.0x.
Both are very fast readers and recover speed immediately after hitting ARccOS cells and inserting dummy sectors. Just my opinion and have not had either one too long yet...modded formware is widely available for both drives but I found it to be unnecessary so far for either one.

                  LiteOn LH-20A1P here
                  Pioneer DVR-111D here

Well, it just dawned on me, I have $70 total in Best Buy giftcards, given to me by friends. Since I usually don't buy anything there, I might check if they have any decent burners. I am planning on buying James Bond - Casino Royale DVD (can't be more than $20 though), could anyone find one for $50 or less on bestbuy.com?

Or maybe, do they have any good media sales? I am really low on DVDs and was going to buy a 50 pack of DVD+R Verbatims from Micro Center for $13.99, but seeing as how I have Best Buy giftcards and not Micro Center, media would be nice too.

I like the lg models, from what I have seen of them; I have all Benq right now, but I wouldn't be afraid to make an lg purchase.

Don't forget to save some $$$ to head over to supermediastore with, so you can pick up some of that good TY media

Verbatim works fine for me, plus you have to pay shipping and stuff.

Are there any good cheap burners with free shipping? LOL

But I don't have any specifics, I just want the cheapest one that's good

                            I might check Best Buy.

You could go to google & type in "xxx model # reviews" of the drive that you are looking at, to see if toms, anandtech, etc., has done a review on it, as well as read the customer reviews on newegg, etc.
