      I haven't installed it yet since I plan on doing a clean install in the next few days. It's probably safe and it should import mail automatically, but always back up the Thunderbird folder in %appdata% just incase.

        OK,installed it.No problem so far.It also updated the add-ons.

                I have a question.I can never get the add-ons for Thunderbird to work I always get "Sorry plugin not compatible with Firefox" Any ideas on how to fix this

                  you will have to manually save those files to your harddisk and then in thunderbird go to:

                  => extras => addons => install and define the path to the *.xpi file




                  in case anyone wants to backup or restore firefox & thunderbird data/profiles:

                  i love MOZBACKUP for this job - works like a charm
