Don't feel bad, I remember this happening on a thread several months ago. If I recall, someone bought a few but was able to cancel the order, lol.

Moot point, since both are no longer available, samsung and liteon are about the best choices left if you also want to do disk quality scans and bitsett
        w/o crossflashing.

Shouldn't be a problem if you take your time, flash safe mode, no disc in drive.

I used Liggy and Dee 1Y6 firmware until the new 1.07 came out. Been using Liggy and Dee's version of 1.07 (bitsetting) for about a month now, no problems.

My 3550 has a ton of burns on it but keep on chugging.

Yep, I decided to be the guinea pig but as it turned out it was a good move.

The main reason for the modded firmware is for bitsetting. But you will also noticed more burn speed options on some media.

Definitely have to be careful on there, $33 plus shipping = $40 + not sure if it's worth that much. 2 year old burner?

Bought my Samsung OEM for $30 CDN, NEC 3550A OEM for about $40-45 CDN (year and a half ago) if I remember right.

I missed the benq boat as I didn't have a clue that burners were so different. (I got the NEC to go with my LG at the time, thx to Chewy)

Never had a Lite-On but heard nothing but good stuff from several regular members on here.
