I actually have tried ridding my PC of AVG and Symantec/Norton to no avail. After running the uninstallers, I just delete anything pertaining to either when I come across them.
sudo apt-get remove --purge AVG
sudo apt-get remove --purge Symantec/Norton
YMMV...

They were just as noisy and irreverent as their theatrical forebears, or indeed the groundlings of Shakespeare’s time, with a liking for low humour and a total lack of sense or discrimination.Comment
