I don't automatically do the updates. I manually choose which ones I want to get. These are the last 3 critical updates I got and everything is fine with Nero 6.6.1.15 and my LiteOn and ZA Pro and AVG

I know I am lacking in this area, but how do you know which is ok to chose, and does M$ have a site where everybody goes to report all these problems, so one can read and compare to any we might be having.

So the Black Tuesday in conversation is June 12, 2007!?!? Right?

And I am with Chewy ... I usually download my updates onto different PC and install the ones that I need ... only the ones that are needed ...

Well I got my LiteON back, sorry Chewy I had to finally do a System Restore, tried everything else I knew. Since I thought it had something to do with patch Tuesday because of the LiteON spinning up & spinning down on burning, I went back to last Sunday. I have so far redone most of the stuff I did in (including the updates) except going back to the test SmartBurn, flashing the 9L05, FB, EOS firmware, (I had reflashed to stock 9L05), & the VIAArena update.I did lose Cleanse Uninstall amongst all this.

Configuration before the VIAArena update & after the Restore, (funny thing is after the VIAArena update, the only stuff that would show up in InfoTool config were the WDC, Samsung & the LG: Click image for larger version

                      Hi folks,

                      Hi Mr. BR7 ... few Q's for you ...

Q1: How do you like your BenQ 1670? Does it compare to 1640 or 1655?

Q2: Between your BenQ 1670 and LiteOn SHM-165H6S .... which one do you like better?

BTW, 1000 bps ... so definitely an improvement over your prior speed!!! Right!?!?!

                      Thanks,
                      G!

I don't compare at all. I wish I had never got It is now on my shelf in case of an emergency

Q2: Between your BenQ 1670 and LiteOn SHM-165H6S .... which one do you like better?
The liteOn by far the 1670 is garbage.I got my BenQ 1650 up and running it turned out to be a loose connection.I just have been to lazy to to correct my sig I got everything running normal again I just did a clean install and turned off auto updates and now my Zoom V.92 is running as it should be

More "problems" for MS's updates, specifically WGA: Link

Works like a charm, but real no use for it.
