    5.1 speakers

I'm purchasing some new Logitech speakers (X-540) that are 5.1 and my soundcard is just a standard old "whatever" comes with the PC variety. I'm pretty sure it doesn't support surround sound, but my question is can I hook up the new speakers and get just stereo through all 6 speakers or am I just going to get sound from whichever are designated "front"?

soundsystems like your logitech usually come with a color-coded connection cable these days which ends in more than just one 3.5mm jack

they should have 6 different jacks for all the 5.1 channels and thus you may end up with stereo from 2 speakers but i may be wrong

Thanks for the reply UncasMS...I'm going to go ahead and get the speakers and if it turns out I need a new soundcard I'll get one, they seem to be inexpensive.
