NO sound please help

Ok I am in the prosses of moving and starting to move the computers over to the new place.

I hooked up my sons computer and we cant get any sound from the speakers. It plays nothing not windowns sounds not songs nothing.

I have been troubleshooting the drivers all morning they all say they are working fine.

Speakers make a noise when powered on but wont play anything.

Yes they are plugged in
Yes they are hooked up to the right spot on the pc
I am puzzled.

dont feel bad I panic'd the other night and was scrambling to figure out why my i couldnt connect to my network drive, took me like 30 mins to figure it was OFF, doah!!!!
