Weird setting? Need a bit of help here thanks

    Hello,
I walked away from my pc for 2 days. When I came back to my pc there is something weird.

My text is changed its different and much lighter. Also this is what is bugging me the most. There are thick grey lines that run accrossed my computer screen. My first though was my monitor was going wacko. So I hooked up a different pc to the monitor and the lines are gone.

These lines seem to really follow text a lot! However they are still there even with things with no text. Although when I am typing the grey line disapears on the line I am typing and continues on where my typing ends.
God I hope this is making sense to you all. There must be some type of weird setting I am not aware of there for can not change it to get rid of these lines.

Any help would be great. thanks.

I have added a screen shot of these lines notice then when I highlight a typed line that grey line that follows it gets darker.

    Thanks

    go to the system properties/advanced/performance

    and adjust for best performance

    apply and ok out

add back junk later and rehose windows by running the computer for long times without rebooting

some errors are hard to duplicate, that why we say windoze

      Good morning Chewy,

I am not seeing that setting option / after advanced there is nothing that says Performance

      Edit:

I figured that out I was using the shortcut I guess you dont get all the options that way. I have it set for best performance but there is no change the text is still funny and the lines are all still there.

Active boxes are lighter as well.

ok, maybe not a windoze problem? video driver?? or video/graphics on it's way out

try relaxing display settings temporarily and see if it has any effect

try removing monitor from device manager and reboot

refresh is set to what? 60 is usually pretty failsafe?

Ok that was already at 60 then.

If this video card is going maybe time to get the newer pc's up and running and get all the data transfered from these hard drives to the newer pc' s hard drive.

Going to have to figure out how to remap the new work so I can do that.

7 yrs. old, it would be slightly difficult to find a vid card that would work in it, a new one anyway - since technology moves so fast. Could probably find one on ebay though.

7 years old is "boat anchor" time, nowdays just "toxic waste", that's why they started charging a drop off fee when you recycle them

I do salvage some parts to give away to put in other computers

Ya I know a 7 year old pc sounds crazy but this pc is my baby. LOL

This is my first Windows Platform Pc and I still have it. Yes I have new computers but this one has been my sons for a few years now and I guess I keep it and fix and upgrade it cuz its my baby my first. LOL

Both of the hard drives that are in this pc are newer one hard drive is 2 years old the other hard drive is only 1 year old.

for the time I will move the data from the hard drives to another pc. This one will end up sitting until I decide if I am going to put in a new video card or not. I am going to see if I can find an older on from the Freecycle groups. There are a lot of people that build pc's that still have older stuff, for older pc's. I guess I was hoping there was some kind of setting that could be reset and all would be fine but....... seems to be most likely the video card going to more time goes by now the worse the picture on the screen is getting. I guess its a matter of time before nothing will apear on the screen now.
I have been using this one for the past few weeks due to my pc needs a new network card which I have from newegg just have not taken the time to install it. And I have a new pc that I have a extra hard drive for which I have and have not taken the time to install as well. I guess I need to focus on putting these other 2 pc's together and get them up and running.

Ya I have been lazy with these pc's lately. LOL

Time to put my office together and set them all up.
