    External HD

Hi. Is it a practical proposition to actuually run programs from a USB external drive, rather than just use it as a backup ??
My main HD is OK, but far too many progs on it, bit slow now, some progs rarely used, but dont want to dump them.
External disc has tons of space......Cheers.

Some programs have "portable" versions that are fine for use on external or key drives. Usually they keep program settings in an .ini file in the same folder as the exe. No Registry entries.

I used to use the External Drive to run programs on my Brother's desktop since he had Admin Right and would piss him off if I added something that he did not want to use.

It worked for me as long as the darn Program did NOT demand for Admin Rights to install itself.

        G!
