    Hi UncasMS ...

I couldn't get AVG Free to finish a scan. Neither did this one as you can see it stopped. I had it running for the last 15 hours. It found something, maybe that's my problem.

The Apophysis program is the same one I have been running before so I can't see that it would be a problem. The error message does come up when I am rendering and have another Apophysis open. But it never did it before the reinstall.

I don't know if my virtual memory is properly set either. I remember tweaking it when I first got the PC, but I don't remember what it was.

try looking for conflicts between security programs and or other types

sure you got all your drivers loaded right?

          what about sp1

          limited system restore and defragged?

according to your last screenshot posted there is NO page file activated!?

if i were you i'd change this setting immediately

let either windows/system handle the size or set it to 2-3gb when you render images but make sure it it located on a disk where 2-3gb are more than available - your drive c doesnt seem to have much space left.

                Chewy ...
I uninstalled AVG and installed PC Tools AntiVirus so I only have that one running. I don't know how to turn off Defender.

When I reinstalled Vista, I did install the drivers. It seems to be working just fine.

                UncasMS ...
It's not accepting anything I put in the boxes. Can you walk me through it please?

vista on 2 gb without virtual memory is bad idea..
if u r using syustem restore delete any non wanted store points or if system running fine delete all and make new i find it can take 10 gb or more in couple of months use.

click c drive {OS} then click system managed size then click set and then click automatically manage page file for all drives..

similarly if u want to custom setting, click custom type 1024 in frist box 2048 in second click set. now restart

Actually I was looking at that 2GB RAM ... even though Kabu is using Vista 32-bit ... as much as Graphic she is doing ... may be she should change one of her 1GB RAMs with a 2GB one ...

@ Chewy ... why not just leave the Defender alone and use Avira Free version as her Primary A/V and add Comodo Firewall Pro (+ defense) ... between the two she might be somewhat better off. And add MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware for additional good measure.

                        G!

                          Thanks Chewy and atifsh ...

Got my AVG gone and my Defender off. Got my virtual memory set properly as well. Now Should I go ahead and run a full scan with PC Tools AntiVirus?

Kabu do you really need all that anti-poison software? Prolly do if you're all over the www. I've been just fine w/spybot and avira together w/windows firewall since Chewy suggested it mos. ago. Safe hex also. Just my 2 American cents which as of right now prolly not worth anything.
                            SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

Take the suggestions and follow the directions. The results will speak for themselves.

                            Google is definitely our friend.

i am still convinced that running vista with all its crap AND your rendering tools will have eaten up those 2gb with ease

having set a page file now give it another go and let us know
