No firewire ports on new computer

I have a Canon ZR mini digital video camcorder. It hooked up to my old computer (iMac G3) through the computer's firewire port. Recently, we got a new computer a MacBook (aluminum model) and it has no firewire ports. Online, I have read there is no such thing as a USB to firewire adapter. Yet, on eBay, I see people selling them.

Here is the link - http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-To-IEEE-1394...3A1%7C294%3A50

What I am wondering is if I can hook my Canon ZR up to my MacBook with this adapter? If I can't, then what can I do to get the video onto the MacBook with only USB ports?

The Unibody MacBook FireWire Fiasco Didn't Have to Happen, Dan Knight, Mac Musings, 2008.10.30. Some are claiming that Apple had no choice but to eliminate FireWire with the new MacBook design, but Apple could have eliminated ethernet instead.

should have bought the macbook pro

Thanks for the first link. I wasn't sure if the adapter would work, but I guess it will. As for the second link, I can't use that card because I don't have a slot.
      Thanks.

A lot of people are complaining that the new mac book computer did not include the firewire interface. This was short sighted, could eliminated a usb port and included a firewire connector.

hardly ever used the firewire port of my macbook - only to make use of the "target" mode hooked to another mac

          @ ptex

your canon does not allow for usb output?
usb 2.0 isnt slower than firewire when transfering video so if you can, use usb output

usb 2.0 isnt slower than firewire
firewire was faster and/or more reliable in the past with slower cpu's as usb is controlled thru the cpu, firewire chipsets handle their own workload

hence the dropped frame problem with usb and the reluctance of camcorder manufacturers to design for usb video capture

@ Uncas - I am not sure if I can hook up the camcorder directly to USB, I don't see why not.

Regardless, I bought the $4 adapter off eBay that I had mentioned in my first post. Thanks to all for all the help.
