Seems if I check the reset box in User CP for title it fixes it. Cool.

          WRT54G ver 2.0

          That would be super.

Don't need to make bricks. It only would complement all my coasters.

No seriously this would be a neat thing to learn. I heard about this a long time ago but forgot about until your post.

              first get these files....
              dd-wrt.v24-9517_VINT_mini.bin
              dd-wrt.v24-9517_VINT_std.bin
              from http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down....ric%2Fvintage/

1: remove all cables othertehn power adapter from ur router
2: hard reset ur router pushing the reset button. [keep it press for a while to proper reset]
3: restart ur pc and close any unwanted programs...
4: connect ur nic to routers 1st port [do not plug in to wireless port]
5: login to ur router admin:admin goto admin : firmware upgrade
6: browse to the mini firmware file first and upgrade. [do not use std file first or ull brick ur router]
7: wait till it says successfull, may take a while do not do anything to router or pc
8: unplug power from router and plug it again after 2 mins, now login using root:admin [login : pass changed now ]

now repeat steps for std firmware.

i have experience of bricking 2 routers and successfully flashing 5 routers so if u do as i said hopefully u wont have any trouble.

Working well. We shall see how long the wireless connection holds.

                Thanks for the help.

                I was completely lost.

Brother backed out on replacement for now, but I know now how I want to go with Wireless N.

My web pages load so much faster using the draft-n wireless router. I was using WEP but I have changed to WPA.

I wasn't sure the difference between WPA and WEP my selp. I went WPA as well.

The router we will get will be the WNDR 3300.

It is also dd-wrt compatible. It just seems to have the best of many worlds.

WEP has been fully hacked and is no longer secure, that is how TJ Maxx was hacked and a large number of customers credit card data was gotten. Although WPA the keys have been partially cracked, but it is still more secure then WEP encryption.

i dont dare saying that X is much better than Y

all i can say is that all those netgear products i have at home or installed at friends home or which are in use in the company work more than fine for years now

so whenever i needed a new device i bought netgear and so far didnt regret it

That's exactly why I started this thread is to get professional opinions.

I did not count on the great info and firmware upgrade help which is great.

@UncasMS That was a very diplomatic answer which I respect.

Ant thoughts on the WNDR 3300 ?

Well the Linksys really died today. We did buy the WNDR 3300 and it works great.

My WRT54G never did this well with speed and so simple to set up.

I wish it would of died sooner.

Thanks again for all the help.
