    lumix...

    i own a panasonic lumix dmc tz1...
when i zoom to 10x it appears that the objective has a darken spot in the middle...
is it possible for it to be dirty? or what?

    hi ro magnum 44,

what happens fairly often to DSLR (i know your lumix is not a SLR type) cameras is that the sensor itself has dust/dirt on it

with an slr camera this dirt spots become more intense when you close the apperture

there MAY be something similar with your lumix
try to search for a feature in your manual like "sensor cleaning" if there is any such feature - many slr have this option

with an slr one can alternatively put the camera in a mode in which the mirror will be lifted upwards and the shutter as well
(this of course is not possible with your tz1)

now one has access to the sensor and can CAREFULLY remove dust with either some sort of a bellow (i bought a tool like this at a local drugstore because those bellows for ear cleaning are iedentical in their efficiency but way cheaper than the stuff you buy at your camera store) or a q-tip

i use both with my eos but i wont say that a q-tip may not harm the sensor
