Hmmm I wonder if there's such a thing as backup programs with all files and registry settings without the OS?

edit: I thought I heard of something but they turn out to be one-app mover type utilities. The 2 I know of are a PC Mag util called Change Of Address and a commercial app called Application Mover. You put in the existing path of your app and the new destination folder and these utilities try to fix up the registry entries and shortcuts in the start menu as they move the files.

1: installed fresh sp1 integrated vista on brothers laptop, updated everything install avast then realized vista post sp1 updates must have done something good, the total memory usage was under 600 mb 560 to be exact. hmm

2: updated my system with x64 version of 7 build 7048 and again the memory usage was came down frm 1.4 gb from build 7000 to 800 mb for 64bit system.

7048 doesnt have send feedback links anymore, thus RC is very near...

I wonder how hard Windows 7 will be to tweak.

It's hard to know since there's no way to foretell what Home Premium will be like as opposed to Ultimate. Although even Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1 came with a lot of the services set to reduce system hogging. So I hope there's hope
