Windows Media Player Codec

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition. I just had to format my PC and now I need the Codec for my Windows Media Player because all that is playing with video files is audio. I've never had this before after putting my files and software back in after a format. Where can I find the correct Codec for video showing as well, please?
