Outlook 2003 crashing on exit

Thanks mate. Can anyone explain what Net Framework does/is and why 3.5 is so important (this appears to be the issue)?

I mean, it seems to be an optional addon for windows anyway, right? What apps use it specificially?

I've never really paid much attention to that but here's some blurb.

Another site suggests it might be due to problems with Outlook 'extensions' although I'm not entirely sure what exactly they are for.

I suppose you could try some of the command line instructions to test this.

Here are all the ones that start Outlook 2003 in different 'safe modes'.

Starts Outlook without extensions, Reading Pane, or toolbar customization.

/safe:1

Starts Outlook with the Reading Pane off. New to Outlook 2003.

/safe:2

Starts Outlook without checking mail at startup. New to Outlook 2003.

/safe:3

Starts Outlook with extensions turned off, but listed in the Add-In Manager.

/safe:4

Starts Outlook without loading Outcmd.dat (customized toolbars) and *.fav file.

The poster at avg seemed to indicate if the AVG Exchange Extension was removed, all was well.

I can't seem to find how to remove that.

The 'Add-In Manager' thingy mentioned above lets you turn them on and off.

I haven't got Outlook 2003 installed so I can't tell you exactly where to go, but in Outlook 2002 you go to - Tools -> Options -> Advanced Options -> Add-In Manager.

Got it! Thanks. And, its a graceful exit. That manager simply puts AVG on the OL toolbar. It doesn't affect email scanning AFAIK.

So, maybe one day, AVG will fix this.
