Windows XP Installing Question

First of all, I'm using XP Pro, not XP Home.

Why would I need to clone the drive - if I screw up the drive I can just use the Vista recovery discs... no real harm done.

I think I'll just try slipstreaming it twice once the laptop comes in (probably in a week or two)
