When I power cycle, I shut down the computer, then disconnect the power from the router and then the cable or dsl modem. After a minute or two I power up the modem, wait a minute, then power up the router, then power up the computer.

Anytime I start to notice glitches and slow speed I power cycle.

I forgot to mention that in my prev. post. This also applies to any modern elect. equip. these days that has a chip(s) inside.

When my cell phone is not seeming to be functioning correctly, I shut it down, pull the battery & let it sit for maybe 5 min. or so.

Replace batt., power up & it is good to go. Guess it erases the equivalent of the "cache"/ temp. memory or some such thing. Also, with Verizon, you can dial * 228 & refresh the network every month or so. Verizon techs recommend that you do this.

I have a newfangled digital blender "Blendtec" which has a microprocessor in it. A ton of functions, I was looking on the base of it for a USB connection for a firmware update ...it gets ridiculous these days...

Kabu, did the tin foil hat work?

I have the old fashion blender and hand mixer. That way I can fix them if I need to.

Thanks guys. It didn't seem to help so I will run to BestBuy tomorrow and see if a new router will do the trick.

I have the same problem with my phone too. I have to turn it off and wait a minute before turning it on. Touch screens are so buggy!

@ Katz ... Tin foil hat didn't help with the router. But did work on the really hot lumberjack. Great conversation started ... LOL

I do not think that the router is at fault. It is possible it could be a modem issue. When you posted you ISP speed test, the slow speed you have, that would be an issue with the modem IMHO. You might want to call the ISP and complain the slow speed to see if they can address the issue. Also the modem has a page that tells you how good the connection is, and what speed that you are getting. It is useful for the tech to figure out the problem maybe.

also check ur phone line is clear of any noise. also if u r using spliter, that usually we use to split dsl modem line and phone. my splitter get busted and i was having dropout hang issues with modem. i replace the splitter and my modem is now 24/7 on.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!
