windows live messenger needed?/?/

I justbought a new laptop 64 bit vista..
I am always being prompted at bootup to sign in or make a user/password for windows live messenger..
not a social animal on the web.[ chat/facebook/ twitter, sharing photo's etc] although I know microsoft has this there for other functions and applications and windows updates.

do I need to get into this program or can Ijust remove it as I am not sure if this is a neccesary application or just a social exstention tool.
I am on the web constantly but forums like this and email are pretty much as close as I get to others Internet wise.

i'd make sure the tool would NOT autostart so no nagging anymore

but maybe dont delete/uninstall it completely

Hi rago. I had to make a windows live user thingy. I used a e-mail I really never use. It was for dlng the 7 64 RC. I now am starting to get to learn all this windows live stuff myself. Even if I end up not using it. In XP Home I eliminated it w/nlite. Now it's Vista/7 time so whole new ball game.
