    Converting MPEG4 To MPEG 2

Does anyone know any software that converts MPEG4 to MPEG2 that is also suitable for Windows 7, please? A friend of mine has a new camcorder and the footage is stored in the MPEG4 file type and he doesn't like the rather dull-looking software that came with it and all the other software that he tried never supports the MPEG4 files. I checked on my PC and I found out the same problem. All I can think of is him converting them to MPEG2 before importing them into any video editing software.

    Many thanks.

I don't know the title of the software that he has. I forgot to ask. He said it doesn't have much in it for what he wants to do. I explained to him that the software that comes with a camcorder is a basic edition and he said there's some things in Windows Movie Maker that his software that came with his camcorder doesn't have that he needs. By the way, his camcorder was made by Sanyo.

      Many thanks.

i wanted to know the camera model so i know it doesnt use some specific mp4 standard. otherwise many new programs will open most mp4 files.

like video studio and power director. both have trial versions.

How about trying Tunebite, if he needs a soft for converting your files. It converts many formats nicely and with high speed. The only bad thing is you cannot do anything else on your pc, but the conversion period isn't that long, especially if you don't have protected files. I use this one and I don't care about my videos' formats because I know that I can quickly convert them.

AVStoDVD or Handbrake should be able to convert almost anything to DVD/Mpeg-2
