How do I find out what type of video card I have? I bought GTA 4 as the PC version and parts of the game don't run properly where the're no background in places and it lags a lot even in single player. I have a feeling my video card is out-of-date (and I don't know why because GTA 4 is older than my laptop).

GTA 4 PC is notorious for being extremely difficult, in that it's full of bugs, memory leaks and other things that prevent you from playing without the game crashing every 10 minutes, or stuttering, texture corruptions .... There are official game patches, but you may still have problems even after installing the latest version.

The problem is so bad that I actually wrote a blog post to try and summarise the common fixes/tweaks that help the game run properly:

The game works better under Windows 7 I find, since XP memory management is fairly lame.

And as you've tried to do, finding the latest graphics card drivers will help too.

For ID try going into Device Manager, expand where it says Display Adapters. The line may have make and model info. For instance mine says NVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
