Imgburn error

Could have been a defect on that blank. And after it failed the first time and it tried to re-try it couldn't because the blank had that little bit written on it already and wasn't considered blank anymore. Does that make sense? Just a thought.

The last update for your firmware that I can find is over 2 years old as well, it may not be able to keep up with newer media.

I have looked for firmware. I did not see anything specific for my drive. Have you run across my models firmware? I saw something about dual formating firmware for my drive. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.ph...&manufactor=23
I figured I should stay with the DVD + format. I have been using the Sony media for the past year. Same disk different day.

I think BK might be closer to the problem due to the fact that I was able to burn with DVDD immediatly after the error. Again, using the same media I've been using for the past year. I'm burning tonight! So far so good!

BK could definately be correct, I was just stating that the firmware for your burner was very old and sooner or later should need updating to keep up with current media trends.

Here's where I saw some firmware, but like I said, it is from 2004. Just choose your model # on the right and the left side will display factory and modified firmwares that are available.

Should I update to the modified firmware? Who developed this firmware?
I'm a bit worried.

I had a system failure a few years back. I was installing a USB 2 card in my 98se. I was told I needed a patch. CRASH!!!!I had to do an entire re-install. Thankfully I had the MAX HD about 2 weeks before for back-up.

when it comes to nec there's Liggy with Dee and the Dangerous Brothers

other just pass there work thru and almost all of it's based on original nec firmware with minor hacks and tweaks

after researching your drive play it safe

even if you crossflash/very dangerous there is limited support for a lot of media

are these sony MIJ 8x dvd+r's?

I'm going to assume that the original version is pointless. I guess it's up to either Liggydee Fast or RPC1 or DB - RPC1 with Rip Lock, and Rip Lock only? I wasn't going to cross flash becaused it was based on nec-6500
Not sure which one to use if any?

The Sony's are D11 DVD + R's 4x-8x

don't flash those laptop drives unless absolutely necessary(master slave firmware thing) flashs are best done outside the laptop with adapters.

sony MIT are unreliable/inconsistent

like I have said before save that baby, and get a good external to burn with,
laptop slim drives DO NOT hold up.

Chewy is right about L&D and the Dangerous Brothers and the site I linked you to usually lists one of those two as the makers of said firmware. Apperantly the modified firmware that the site hosts is a Dangerous Brothers firmware (TDB).

Vlad & Igor(the Dangerous Brothers), just the names
are enough to scare you, but they are very good. And do a lot of different drives, very prolific.

I guess I shouldn't upgrade the lap firmware?
Based on your suggestion to get a good external burner, do you have any brand/model suggestions? You have my signature lap specs.
One more, would I be able to run the External Max HD at the same time as the external burner? The lap has one USB port for large external hardware devices and three others for smaller things (wireless mouse,etc).
If I ever hit the lottery I will buy another desktop with two burners.
