    Burning stops at 40-60%

It used to work perfectly burning DVDs using ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter.
But now burning stops at 40-60%. It happened 6 times out of 10 in the last 3 days.
No new programs or software has been added to my PC.
Does anyone have a clue what is going on, or experienced similar problems???

What burner/firmware and what media? Are you using different media recently?

To exclude a damaged drive, can you try it in another computer?

I have and use 2 burners on my PC
      a. NEC ND-3540A
      b. SONY DRU-700A
I always use the same media "DVD+R Taiyo Yuden TO2" never had any problems.
The problem persist with both burners.

please check for a firmware update if there is one, also verify your current MEDIA ID.

Thank you guys for the effort but none of your suggestions applies to my problem.
There is nothing wrong with my hardware, the media I’m using, the power supply etc.
I’ve been going thru my machine for many hours and the only thing I’ve noticed is a reference to an installation that is visible only as system restore point and appears to be installed by mcrsoft on the 14th of April (it’s about the date my burning problem started) together with some Win. Updates (I had auto update ON).
It is called “Software Distribution Service 2.0”. I can’t restore my system to an earlier point before this Installation it just doesn’t let me. I did some research on the net about this “Software Distribution Service 2.0” and I found that this is causing many problems to all the users who have got this piece of sh*t and it gets better “You can not get rid of it”.
Now every time I use DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn (I try to burn using RW’s to see if it works) if the burn doesn’t finish its impossible to stop and close the App.
When I try thru task manager to end task I get the Apps window to close but I can see in the processes window that the App is still running and there is no way to end the process, only if I reboot.
I thing Formatting the HD will be the solution.
            Thanks for Your patience

Software Distribution Service 2.0 was linked to system restore, my XP autoupdate did not download the feature. I never use restore, others
                  recovered with it.
