The most frustating part... (I/O error this time)

Is that I am constantly getting *different* errors - and yet, nothing is working. This has happened 3 different times now... everything is great and then suddenly, with no changes, nothing works. I am using disks from the same package, I am using the same burner - I have not changed a thing about the *way* I am burning.

Here is my latest error log:

Thank you for the suggestion... sadly that didn't seem to make a difference either. Well, I guess it made a difference, but, it didn't fix the issue. This is so frustrating.

          Logical Unit Communication CRC Error
Sounds as a problem with your interface.

Check if you have DMA enabled for the burner.

All my DMA settings *looked* correct - but, I went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled. I'm running a test on the same movie (Spiderman2) and it seems to be running flawlessly. I'm using my Princo media (which was also not working previously) at 6x.

Yep - just got the log on my test:

I had burnt about 100 disks before I had a problem, mainly when I was burning more than 1 disk, Different burn errors to yours, some times there was no error logged however it would not play on my DVD player. Noticed first burn had good play back. I have not fully tracked down my problem, however if I only burn 1 disk and wait for a while my 2nd burn is also successful too, over heating was my problem, may be worth a check.

Your drive may be no good. But first, try different media - Taiyo Yudens or Verbatims.

                    • KC4B - patched - improved +/-R burn quality (for 1673S, 1693S, Sony 800A, etc.)

I would eliminate a bad flash or a corrupt firmware from the equation by flashing with the above firmware, be sure and do it in safe mode, as your drive may already be dead, you have nothing to lose

Synchronising Cache - DVD DeCrypter freezes up

I am having a very much similar problem. When using DVD DeCrypter, at the very END of the burn, when it says, "sychronising cache", it stalls. My log looks no different than it has for the past year of burning with DVD DeCrypter. It just freezes up. I have left the program running for over four (4) hours and it still will not "finalize". I can't cancel DVD DeCrypter by either clicking on the X box in the upper right-hand corner; or by clicking on the red stop sign button on the far right side. The only way to stop the program from running is by accessing the TASK MANAGER. Even then when DVD DeCrypter stops running, I can't eject the DVD. I have to reboot the computer to get the DVD to eject. And the great insult is that the DVD is worthless....no movie, no future use.

I have been backing up my movies for over one year with DVD DeCrypter with no problems. It's only started to happen the last two months. I've used various types of media.

Do people who've been burning for years and then start getting errors all the time not stop to consider the drive might just be failing?! These things don't last forever you know.

Also, if you buy Princo and RitekF1 discs, you shouldn't expect to get good burns. You've been lucky to burn any of them!

                            @LUK,

I'm getting the same thing, and you know me I tried firmware/bios ... I still need to chek my memory (memtest).

The most recent issue was I lost video on my box, as soon as I reseated the CPU I got the video back and the burn failures STOPPED. But I recently got the "Synchronising Cache Failed", but I click OK and the DVD still seems to work (at laest play the movie) even thought it did not finialize ... I gotten this about 10 times +/-.

See next post for ImgBurn logs (other fails) of a different sort in Debug Mode (F8). The log below were before I reseated the CPU, Im waiting to see if it returns. I've made about 10-15 successful burns since reseating CPU !

PS: Here is where I posted the Everest report on my setup CLICK HERE

Let me know what you think !

@Everyone (Chewy, UncasMS, cynthia, blutach, etc)

I've tried the firmware, BIOS, and the NEC 3540 is not that OLD ..... I just got a NEC 3550 and before the reseat of the CPU, I got fails as well...so I'm pretty sure it not the NEC's .... Any suggestions would be appreicated ...

                            AX
