dvd drive wont read or burn

It might be that you need to re-install/update your device drivers if they have been corrupted.

It could also mean that your drive is possibly starting to fail.

i did check that the drivers are up to date and they are. do you think i used it too much and wore it out? if so what is a good burner to purchase?

my dvd drive wont read or burn dvds (but works on cds) ive already contacted manufacturer, ran various tests that say drive is working properly and they say its a windows corrupt file from downloading dvd software. i have tried uninstalling drive and that didnt work i looked on microsoft.com to g...

probably burned 25-30 dvds and it does come up with problems-programs not responding, getting frozen up

so you want me to run that program? it says it can cause data loss or corruption. should i do it even tho the drive is probably already messed up? i dont want to mess anything else up!

I had a problem with my burner, wouldn't read or play DVDs but would play CDs. Unistalled and reinstalled drivers, ran all the tests, said it was working properly, ect... Finally called HP they had me do all the same things I had already done and they thought it to be the laser gone bad. Sounds familiar to what is happening to you. Luckily mine was still under warranty. I maybe had burned 20 or so on it. My other burner has probably burn't 100 so I don't thing you used your's too much!!

The web page has no warnings, it's safe, very safe, and the other is the standard new windows security warning(SP2).
