IMG Burn & Semaphore Timeout

Hello,
Im New to this Site so I hope im posting in the correct area!!!

Im using an External Dvd Burner made by Toshiba and Ive updated my Firmware and I also have Dvd Decryptor, Dvd Shrink, Dvd43 and Img Burn installed on my Pc. I use Windows XP Home Edition as well.

Ive already went through an entire pack of Media and Im sooooo frustrated!!! I just bought some New Media today- Maxell Dvd+RW 4.7gb

After installing the things above I tried Burning a Movie and again it was Un-Successful and stopped at 7% as it has been doing all week. I got a Semaphore Timeout and have NO clue how to fix it, Im hoping someone here can Help so I can start Burning.

Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.

Get (much) better media. Slow the burn speed to 2X or even 1x on external burners.

Hello,
I just bought New Media today.... I bought Maxell Dvd+RW 4.7gb and I was told this was good Media on another forum, Were I went they did NOT have any Verbatim Dvd's at all.

The Links you posted don't have any info on Semaphore Timeout!!!

Slow the burn down. One of the links in the Golden Rules of Burning is this one - read it carefully.

So your saying if I Burn at 4x I won't get the Semaphor Timeout??? This is confusing and I don't understand alot of it.

Also what is Adaptec and what is it for or do? Does everyone need it? There was a post in another forum on reply of mine mentioning that.

Ok ive went to Device Manager but Im not seeing were it says 1.1 or 2.0 in anything listed so how do I check....

In Device manager it doesn't say one way or the other???

The semaphore timeout can be due to several things, faulty media, other programs running at the same time as the task on hand, burn speed.

Follow Blu's suggestions and Golden Rules and make sure you have all other programs shut down, such as Norton, the internet, and any background programs that are not needed.

Slow it to 1x would be my view and move up gradually from there. Maxell are good media.

Ok I did MsConfig and turned everything Off in the background and was offline and it ripped fine as usual with Dvd Shrink then when I started to burn with IMG Burn, I got an error almost immediately. I had 4x selected....

since you are using brand new RW's they need to be formated

is that external drive hooked to usb2?

Ok Formatted? How do you Format your Media and why do you have to do that? Im really confused now.

My External Burner is hooked up to my USB in the back of my CPU, I had it hooked in the front were my extra ports were but I changed it.

Im assuming there 2.0 but im not sure
