                      From your Nero log:

                      Physical memory : 447MB (458028kB)
                      Free physical memory: 89MB (91668kB)
                      Memory in use : 79 %
You have almost no resources left for burning.

Chewy already touched on the firmware, current version is MSON and can be found here:

Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2286111 (508:01.36, 4465MB)
You are attempting to burn too close to the edge of the disc, reduce your target size in DVD Shrink/Recode to 4300 to avoid the edge of the disc.

                      Media Specific [16..63]:
                      00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
                      00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
                      00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
This area should contain more than just zeros, this means that your drive isn't recognizing your blank discs and may not know how to burn it. See above regarding firmware.

Well, I knew there was a reason why I kept coming back to this forum. To Chewy, I did as you said (thanx for the link) and the burn went wonderfully. By the way does flashing the burner mean upgrading its driver?
To locoeng, as you might have already guessed, I'm no Einstein at this so I basically keep all default settings and follow all the dummie guides. Dont know what to do about scarse resources and never change DVD Shrink's target size.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your time and for your help.

you could call it that, but technically firmware is not a driver

Here is a handy little guide to help you free up some resources:

To change the target size in DVD Shrink (which should be done) go to Edit/Preferences...in the drop down box choose custom, and then enter 4300 in the box beside of it, click OK and you are set. No need to do it again.

I defintely wouldn't burn to the edge with this mid, not very good.

that liteon does great quality scans, see for yourself what the burns look like
