ImgBurn error

I have been using PgcEdit, DVDDecrpypter, DVDShrink, and ImgBurn to burn my DVDs for some time and never had any problems. but the last few days, i can't seem to get one to burn. Always the same error in the write stage with ImgBurn. I tried reinstalling everything and then burning it, I tried RipIt4Me and that didn't help it. It is probably something stupid.

After DVDShrink has shrunk the files and gotten them ready to burn I get an error in ImgBurn that says:

PCA errors are usually firmware/media related. Also check your DMA.

thanks for your help. you are lots smarter than i am. that is for certain. i had never heard of firmware before your reply.

i tried your .exe file and restarted my PC. it did not help. note: i only tried to reburn the .iso file, did not try to re-scan, re-shrink, etc the whole dvd. do you think i need to re-do the entire process.

another imgburn problem

I ripped the DVD to the hard drive with DVD Decrypter, ran PgcEdit and everything looked good (although it took about 30 minutes, not 4-8 as the notes suggested). Opened ImgBurn and ran it through test mode, it ran, came back operation successful, but ehen I tried to burn and verify I get the same "Poer calibration area is full". Help?

I just checked the DMA. Both primary and secondary IDE channels showed:
Device 0 Transfer mode: DMA if available.
Current transfer mode: Ultra DMA Mode 2

BUT, for device 1, both channels show:
Transfer mode: DMA if available
Current tranfer mode: PIO

Should I remove these channels and let Windows re-install? I am running XP home, with a Dell DVD-ROM and a BENQ 1625 DL DVD burner.

Try this for DMA. You might also want to read The Golden Rules. There might be more, I just took a brief glance. What did you use to rip this & in what mode? Sorry for this movie use RipIt4Me to rip it to your hard drive.

Chuck these out an get some real good blanks. Verbatims DL only (MKM dye).

Your drive doesn't like them - and with good reason. They are cheap crap.

Do also search for a firmware upgrade and follow the other golden rules.

Sigh, I thought Philips was a good brand name. They were the same price as Verbatim, except they were on sale (I got a 25 pk for $35. CDN., good price for around here).
Are they any good for burning data? If I take them back to Future Shop (Canadian version of BestBuy), they will probably laugh at me.

Your burner won't even see that it can burn on them at all -that what the Power Cal error is about.

Do take em back - say they are not fit for purpose. Use all the charm Ian Flemming gave you (and strength and guile) and get some Verbs!

The disks in that link are the ones to get!

I think Future Shop's blanks are mostly Taiwan or China. A long shot but you could check out Wal-Mart for Sony 1X - 8X 50 pack spindle with the octagonal spacer made in Japan. Usually retail for about $25 sometimes on sale for $20 but they are really TY 02's.
