Book Type Setting

Need some help here,
Everything that I have read leads me to believe that it is only possible to change the booktype of a DVD+ disc to DVDRom. Correct? If this is so ,how have I just changed the book type of a DVD - disc to DVD Rom with Imgburn?
As an experiment I have just backed up John Wetton Live in The Underworld to a DVD - R . via DVDShrink & IMG Burn. After DVDShrink had finished and IMGBurn opened I thought that I would try to change the book type ,so clicked on change book type > DVD+Temporary > change to DVDRom > Change > SUCCESS!
Is this standard?Or am I doing something wrong? (The back up plays perfectly)

When you change the booktype, you get a drop down box that says, for +R or +R DL disks. You have probably changed it for future +Rs.

To check, open your burned DVD in Ner0 CD-DVD Speed, insert the DVD and read the Disc Info tab.

You can change your Book Type if your burner supports it. ImgBurn is telling you that it has been changed so the next time you put in a +R it will book type to dvd rom.
It didn't do anything to the -R disk.
