    Power Calibration Area Error

I recently received this error message when I tried to burn Plextor DVD+R (YUDEN000-T03-00) in my Plextor PX-755A. I use the latest firmware 1.06 and the drive is only a few months old. I tried on different discs of the same type, all gave the same error. I burned this YUDEN000-T03-00 before without any problems in this drive. The Taiyo's TYG02 (DVD-R) burn fine, giving great quality results in Plextools XL.

This drive is already a replacement for a defective PX-716A (reading problems). Could this be a lens problem again?

Anyone has problems with Plextor DVD burners?

      ImgBurn.log

Here it is. I launched ImgBurn and then closed it down manually, it keeps trying to write the leadin. Plextor media from Taiyo Yuden is supposed to be very good, right? Power calibration is done by the drive. It's not an ImgBurn problem.

Plextools XL gave me the followong error: Invalid parameter (code 052400)
      DiscLog1.txt

how are the 3 optical drive configured, cabled and jumpered?

        that media is very good

checked all the connections? good power supply?

burn commands are sent thru the OS and a layer of filters

power calibration errors are often related to these filters

I got only 2 physical optical drives. The 3th is a virtual drive (Daemon).
Power supply is 450Watt, also less than a year old. I don't have other problems. Nothing changed to my jumpers. I'll check my cables.

Now that you mention it, earlier today I got a warning in ImgBurn about the virtual (Daemon) drive.

I 15:38:26 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...
          E 15:38:32 CreateFile Failed! - Device: '\\.\CdRom2' (H)

          You think there's a connection?
PS: There was no image mounted in H at that moment.

I meant that imgburn error log part?
Microsoft support is here to help you with Microsoft products. Find how-to articles, videos, and training for Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365, Windows, Surface, and more.

you might look at this page about removing extra filter drivers

Luk will know more about which if any might cause a problem

????????? WTF ImgBurn is burning now a Yuden T03, I didn't change anything!
I just wanted to try once more, to create an entire log.

Thanks for that url. Looks like important information there. Though I never had Easy CD Creator installed. But I'll follow that guide to uninstall the Elby and the Gear drivers. Looks like the Gear driver got installed after trying iTunes, but that was months ago. Strange.

Yesterday I installed by accident some kind of Video ActiveX component.
I uninstalled it immediatly, but is it possible that this did something to the cd/dvd drivers (that virtual drive error)?

                    Cheers.

PS: ImgBurn finished the disc by now. I checked in Plextools XL and the quality is very good.

LUK had a nice thread where he described the filter driver problem with the analogy of a game of "chinese whispers", as the burn commands pass thru the filters they get scrambled? My view is if a filter driver is not installed it's hard for it to get corrupt and hose the bus.

gear is related to easy cd thru sonic

easycd is used as a worse case scenario

Do the commands pass through all the filters, or only to those related to the burn software?

Indeed, I never paid attention on those filters, til now. I already have the Gear, the Elby and the Asapi filters removed (by uninstalling the software, no registry intervention was needed.)

They disappeared after uninstalling iTunes, Clonecd and Pinnacle Instant Copy.

I wanna thank you for your time and efforts. I'll see if I have this problems again in the future. But even if so, I learned some interesting things in this thread, things I wasn't aware of.

                        Greets.

actually the 2 things I trust the most are clone and nero aspi(as extra drivers)
clone I never let start by itself, course I am using a 2 year old version, and nero aspi isn't installed as a system driver
