Error at 88% - DL burning

A very frustrating error. This drive has worked in the past burning dl w/pgcedit + imgburn. I reinstalled Windows a few months back and now it gets stuck ALWAYS on 88%. I've made so many dl coasters!!!

I updated firmware yesterday, no difference. Single layer burning has started going flaky lately. Could the drive be going bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've tried this with pgcedit + I even this last time used imgburn to create the iso.

    Thanks

    welcome to the forum

that's a btc/emprex drive and they gave up making burners

a few more dual layer blanks and you would have paid for a new good burner

does it still burn single layer ok?

Up until recently it was fine. I've burned ALOT with this drive. I mean ALOT.

I'm looking at a Benq1650 as a replacement if this thing is dead. Any opinions? Anything regarding my current configuration that MAY help. These Verbatim dls are not cheap!!!!

the new pioneer's are the best with dual layer

the benq 1650 rebadged at compusa is a great burner, but hard to find on sale and with rebates

Duh I should have looked at your signature about the Benq. Anything I can do to salvage this piece of junk today?

try a flash with the latest firmware from my link

boot into safe mode to update the empty drive and try single layer first

might try to open the tray, power down the computer and blow out the
burner and even use a long cue tip to clean lens
