IMGBURN Writes fine in Test mode, no go in real run

"Cannot write medium- incompatable format"

This is the error I get when I try and burn with IMGBURN after using DVD shrink...it goes thru all the sectors and finally says this

I have an AOPEN DVD Burner and have used it before when I had the old version of DVD Shrink,,,it all started when I downloaded and updated to the new version

Is it my burner or is it the disc's ??
OR HELP !!!!!!!!

stick a blank in and copy the right window from imgburn and paste it into a reply, it should show your burner, it's firmware, the mid code of the blank and
allowed write speeds

an imgburn burn log would even be better

well that media is pretty bad, if it quit burning when you switched batches?

but if it was working with those same blanks before, same package/spindle I would suspect the burner is going out

googled that burner again, never could find for sure who made it for aopen

Heres the log from a sucessful burn in Test Mode only,,but when I uncheck test mode, it doesn't burn, it gives me that

successful runs using test mode with verify checked

HELPP!!!!!!!
Okay so it works when i check test mode,,,everything seems to work fine.
Then when I do the real thing and uncheck test and leave verify checked,,,,,NADA !
Cannot write medium........incompatible format again!

I am stumped........IS it my burner,,how can I tell ?

I have DVD Shrink working okay with IMGBURN, al latest versions.
I have a 16x16 AOPEN DVD burner,,,,,,I have tried two kinds of blank disc's,,,,HP and Dataware,,,,
Shrink worked fine.....IMGBURN came up as its supposed to, did the burn first auto. and it failed. Says incompatible format ???
on all sectors
IF I do a test burn.......it works fine,,,all successful

SO whats up,,,Have i got something checked thats not supposed to or need something checked orrrrrrr is it my burner thats hooped!

Post a burning log please (Help menu). That's not the best burner around.

In the meantime, read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.

Damn it, how did that happen?! One second my post was in the thread, the next second (after you merged them), it vanished! That must have been split second timing

anyway, here's roughly what I replied with...

Your new discs use the same MID/dye (CMC MAG. AM3) as the old ones. Never go by just the manufacturer name, it's the dye they use that's important and several manufacturers use the same dye.

Get some Verbatim (MCC dye) or Taiyo Yuden discs and try again.

Oh and 'Test Mode' works because it's not actually burning anything to the disc.

Pop a disk in the writer. Open ImgBurn, switch to write mode and see the top right hand panel.

If you wanna buy brand name stuff, use only Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks. More expense but much better!
