Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format

Hi. I've spent my whole day downloading the latest drivers, firmware and all different burning software and I'm still not getting anywhere.

I'm trying to burn an iso of Windows vista. I've gone through a few Infiniti DVD+R discs and I get this error every time:

    I/O Error!

    device:[1:0:0] DVD +RW RW8160 1.08 (D(ATA)

27 Apr 2004 is the date of your firmware

way too old a drive and off the wall to boot

see if you can find some old blanks(even 4x) or use a newer burner

      That was quick! Thanks

So is my problem that the discs are too good for my crappy old burner?

sort of, they probably designed them about 2 years ago and your 4 year old burner can't handle them

I should have known it was because my DVD burner is too old to burn DVDs.

Doesn't seem worth getting a new burner if I won't be able to use it two years from now.

Is there any true way to tell

Is there a surefire way to tell whether ot not your DVDRE is actually wrighting,,IMGBURN as usual even with good media ( Verbatim) says the same thing,,,it says writing and the devise buffer never even fills up,,it eventually says cannot write media blah blah blah.

Is this a pretty good indication that its not burning,,,its the AOPEn and I can't even find update to any firmware anywhere on the net.

If i get a new burner which one should I be looking to buy...the best one.....any opinions?

                  Good News

                  Finally
The problem seems to be solved
I bought two tyoes of media,,,
                  Verbatim -R and + R
the burner DOES NOT like the - R's and fails them everytime
So I put in a + R thinking this won't work either, but it worked for 3 different DVD's I backed up.
I am guessing that every burner has a media that it works with best,,,and the trick is finding it.
Thanks for all your help, everyone!
