I have seen some very pretty burns on mcc 004 with those liteons, and I value the pie/pif scanning since so many drive can't or do it poorly like pioneers

those sony dvd-r's aren't good enough to burn full disks with and be safe, I wouldn't trash a burner on that account, test with better media

now when you get bad burns with yuden t02 or tyg02 or mcc 004 then the drive is bad

After the benq 1640's ran out here in the states I looked around and the next best choice was the liteon 1693, by the time I made up my mind they were gone. I waited and got my benq 1650 since the new liteons were having firmware problems. Now after reading tests I have found that the liteons scan better than the benqs(benqs don't like some disks burned on other burners)? If I had a 1693 I would probably baby it and flash the pioneer to
the buffalo firmware so it could bitsett. You could still buy an lg, they make great burners.

Our resident expert in that is NightTran, what model of pioneer exactly do you have? I'll pm him and ask him to look at your thread.

I believe I have 111D and my last firmware is 819 ( that was long time ago when I retire my P to closet), I think you have to flash in sequen from lowest

yours's 8.22 first then move up, make sure you pick the internal or external

this is the link, remember flash in safe mode and no disk in drive and good luck

Night..I tryed flashing the drive in Safe Mode, but I get a message saying "couldn't find target device" when I click on the file. Any thought on why that is?? I supposed to click on the .exe file right??

I didn't try that one cause Night suggested that I update in sequence from lowest (8.22). I didn't want to try the 8.39 cause I was afraid it might damage my drive. I didn't understand why Night said I had to start from the lowest firmware, but I never question advice from you experts. Do you think I should try the 8.39? Can it screw up the drive at all??

usually people were upgrading from 110 to 110D and beyond and had to flash in increments

your firmware is the newest already(1.41)

it's a little risky, you have to weigh the need for bitsetting against that

you got to know that you may risk the drive if you mess up, at the time I bought was very cheap so I did not worry I never flash in safe mode so I can't tell you , but you know that I flash alot of diff drives already

Chewy and Night...I tryed 8.39 INT and I'm still getting the "target not found" message. Just to be clear, which one of the 3 files am I supposed to run, the .exe right?? And in Safe Mode, should I log in under Admin. or my name?
                                Thanks.
