"Unable to Recover TOC" error...

I just successfully burned 3 DVDs with ImgBurn, but on the 4th it finished writing and got all the way to the verify point, when I got this:

So for each "retry" I would just push the DVD tray back in like I did with the others, but it would then cycle the tray before verify, wait for the device to become ready, and then give me this error message again...

Any ideas? Thanks...

Please make sure your burner's firmware is up to date. It definitely sounds like the problem with not good media. Please get a better brand of media such as Taiyo or Verbatim

As I said, I burned 4 DVDs in a row prior to that one with no problems whatsoever. I was using Fujifilm DVDs.

And I looked for some firmware for my DVD burner using a link in another poster's sig, but couldn't find any for my player.

This error happened once it had finished burning and was waiting for me to re-insert the DVD for the verify process...

When you insert a disc the drive has to recognise it's format - this is done by reading the TOC (table of contents).

Your drive is simply failing to do that - and so no software would ever have a chance at reading what's on it.

You have a hardware / media issue here. A firmware update might fix the issue (by making better burns on the discs), but if there's none available, you're stuck.

Buy some different discs. Even if you did burn 4 that worked, clearly they're not working now!

i didn't start another thread about the same problem. the error messages were different the first time, and after that first mis-burn I was able to burn multiple DVDs successfully. this time it stopped at a different point than last time, and gave me a different message, hence the thread.

anyway, it happens to be the same iso file this time that gave me the other problem last time.
