Failed to Verify Sectors

Hi all!
I am trying to backup several DVDs. The burning process with Imgburn (version 2.3) goes fine but the verification (verify against image) fails.
I used DVDDecrypter and ripped all files to my HDD, then I opened DVDShrink and created an ISO.
I can burn the same image without any problems with my second drive, LG 4163B. I had no verification errors and I used the same media type: verbatim DVD+R Lightscribe.
I also tried Philips DVD-R and Verbatim DVD-R, but had no success.
After the burning process has finished you can see a dark ring in the middle of the disc and there are freezings and pixeling during playback.

Good Morning...had the same problem with newest version of ImageBurn.
When I decided not to verify..the burn was successfull. Using Taiyo Yuden at 4X. Never had this issue with older versions of the software. Am at work now so unable to post any logs. Any feedback would be great.

Try cleaning the lens on the drive that's not working.

At the moment it's just producing duff burns and that can only be a hardware / media issue.

Thanks for your advice! I will give it a try. But why does the same lens work well when I rip a DVD or write a lightscribe-label?

I had a dirty lens that would still burn but not read disks right after they were burned, said a burned -r was an rw etc

I'm having the same problems. I can rip the movie just fine run it through shrink no problem burn with imgburn when it verifies i get errors. playback on computer is jerky. playback in dvd player freezes and resets to earlier chapter. I'm using verbatim discs, dma is ok, cleanded all lasers, deleted movies and ripped again. nothing seems to fix the problem. could this be a hardware issue i have over 1000 burns with this burner

use cdspeed to test your dvdburner

cdspeed is showing discs that i know are good to be bad burns

define good, play in a standalone?

cdspeed is just a tool to indicate(hopefully) some finer level of quality that playability

common belief is a disk that passes tests in cspeed like a transfer rate, a disk quality scan and a scan disk, will be more playable in more players for a longer period of time

a burn that fails these tests, but plays in a good standalone, will have problems in iffy players and become unplayable sooner

yes play in 5 different standalone players no skips pauses pixelation plays flawlessly.
I've been lurking in this forum for over a year and have always found the answer to my problems without having to post but here in the last 2 weeks
I just can't burn a good copy. I'm fairly sure it's my burner I just wanted a second opinion.
I have a hp640c with updated firmware qs12 but like I said I have a ton of burns on this thing and figured it was the laser going out was all i could think of

I pulled one of mine apart to get at the laser lens, I just checked and I can barely see them on 2 of my drives with the tray open, tight fit but a long
qtip might work

strong air compressor is good too, I only saw one laser lens
