Really Slow Burning Speed--Slower Than Usual Anyway..

    Hello everyone.

Hoping someone can shed some light on my latest confusion. I just recently installed a new dvd burner and have been trying to work out the kinks to get all of my programs working smoothly with it. Having a little trouble as far as speed with ImgBurn though. I used to burn up to 6x or maybe 8x before I got this new burner and now, I am lucky if I go anywhere over 2.0x...I may get close to 4.0x very briefly and then I am back down to around 2.0x or 1.9x for most of the burn...I have attached my log for my last burn, can someone take a look and perhaps shed some light for me? Also, I am stuck at sychronizing cache for at least 3-4 minutes after the verify here lately. This burn actually turned out a little better than the others I have done today and yesterday. The burn before this one took over 30 minutes and the verify took another 25 minutes to complete. Is this normal? Have checked DMA and that is fine..

Thanks for any and all input...

I'll do that now and then try and burn a disc to see if it makes a difference.

Even if DMA looks ok it's still worth uninstalling the controller and then rebooting. It's a well known fact that Windows lies!

Well, I did what both Chewy and LUK recommended and I have noticed a definite pick-up in burn speed. All seems to be working well now. I have noticed that my burn speed has picked up to the max of 4x that I had set very quickly and stays there for almost the whole burn. I have burnt two dvds and finished each much more quickly...Thanks for the advice, and now I will definitely take with a grain of salt what I may be seeing in Windows!

no changes with dma or controller

same burner, same burn speed, usually pio mode is closer to 1.2X?

PIO won't normally go over 2.0x

But of course there are several stages in between PIO and the correct DMA level.
