ImgBurn + Optiarc DVD-RAM Burner = Write LeadIn Freeze

    Helllo,

I have been trying to burn my MSDN Server 2008 Disc using ImgBurn, and whenever I try, no matter what the process I am doing is, I always experience "Write LeadIn" Freezing.

    What it freezes:
Seems like Explorer.exe and all sub processes. I can still move the mouse, however, if I try to start any programs after the freeze, nothing opens, not even My Computer. However, if I right click and explore My Computer it opens.

Programs don't open, Firefox, Thunderbird, etc.

I can't exactly give you a log... because nothing odd shows up.

I have Speed Spectrum Disabled from my BIOS, and most power saving options disabled. I searched for a Firmware/Device Driver Update, and could not find any.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    GH0

What type of media are you using? Sounds like the drive has a hold of things and won't let go.

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to www.pcx.com.au for their supply and great service.

Verbatim DVD-R 16x, though I am trying to write at 2x usually. I have tried 2x, 8x, and max.

If I try to use Alcohol 120%, it says I don't have enough memory and then tries to expand the memory to 256 MB. However, it burns programs fine. Even the Server Image I am trying to do right now.

      ImgBurn, however, just fails.

          Hi GH0,

I have seen reports of "Driver Conflicts" ... can't remember where ... but I think I recall something to that effect ...

Also look at this Thread ...

I received the following I/O error when trying to burn an ISO generated by PgcEdit to a Verb DVD+R DL disc. Please note that the error was NOT due to me ejecting the tray. I ejected it because of the error. Normally I never do this but after already having burned one DL coaster I wasn't about to ...

          Hope this helped some!

          G!

Yes looks like windows xp doesn't have the right drivers or that virtual drive is hosing everything

post a filter driver load order from the xp bootup

Also, your drive doesn't even support burning at 2x. But these sorts of things usually come down to drivers.
