LimeWire has been shut down, but a version of it is still alive and kicking, possibly to the annoyance of LimeWire's owners.
LimeWire Pirate Edition has been seen around the net, which is a version of the latest beta version of LimeWire Pro, but with all the ad-ware stuff removed. In essence, it is a pirated version of the otherwise ad-supported LimeWire Pro.
We have recently become aware of unauthorized applications on the internet purporting to use the LimeWire name. We demand that all persons using the LimeWire software, name or trademark in order to upload or download copyrighted works in any manner cease and desist from doing so," said the official LimeWire website's notice regarding this new pirated version.
