Best in terms of what? Best quality (in 2 CD or more)? Best quality in one single CD? There are different views on this term.

Also, whose rip are you referring to? Black Hawk Down DVD is already available on the shelves. Anyone can rip the movie and create DivX files of differing quality.

      heheh.

well, black hawk down is a 2 layer DVD movie = 2 CD DVD rip.

I downloaded this movie about 4 months ago cause my college lecturers wanted it and it wasn't even released here yet, not even in cinema!!!!!!

It is difficult to proclaim one RIPPED movie being better than the majority of others without acknowledging the creator of that specific file and others, who own a copy of the file, backing your words up. For example, I can do likewise and say that my single-CD Lord of the Rings movie (around 3 hours of play) is the best out there on the net. Would you actually believe me, without having seen the movie, and knowing that any 2 hours+ of movie in 1 CD rarely looks good?

download the movie from my server if u wish!

I mean, n e 1 who has downloaded Black hawk down from the web will back me up with this.

I wish I could download it from you, but I really have not the bandwith for it. And it really seems that I have taken a really serious liking to watching DVDs, instead of DivX, purely for quality reasons. The pictures always look sharper and more detailed, regardless of whether or not the DivX file has macroblocks. Most important of all, MP3 has no hope of matching the original sound stream quality of the DVD. I compared the original sound to a 192kbps MP3 conversion using the Sirocco Crossfire, and found very noticable sonic difference. Suffice to say, I'm sticking to watching DVDs until I can't afford them anymore.

Actually, I've been so busy nowadays that I hardly have time to watch anything (rarely watches anything -> fewer DVDs to buy in a given period of time), and any spare time I have is spent playing Warcraft III.

              LOL

I am not really into movies to tell u the truth. I just capture music vids lol.

I only watch movies (or download them) if it's like been recommended by family or friends.

I'm staying around to help lost video-encoding souls. LOL! I'm pretty sure, though, that once I've gotten over my "DVD favouritism" (who, but Bill Gates and his peers, can afford volumes of DVD titles?) and WCIII (nothing lasts. ), and more spare time, I'll be an active member of this forum once more.

Some how I can't believe you, even for a 2 cd rip. If it was 3 cd rip I would be more inclined to believing you. Divx is bad quality by nature, but I don't mean by appearance, Divx is great for use when making back-ups, but even though it looks great, lots of colour info is still lost in compression. For a divx encode to even seem perfect, you'd have to pump a good deal of bitrate into it.

During playback the rip probably looks good...but put it in virtual dub and look through a high action scene, one with alot of fast motion, and tell me if some scenes look a bit like jello, or blocky, because for the movie's run time, 2 hours and 24 minutes, a 2 cd rip would have at most around a bitrate of 1400k. I do Anime encodes and know that this bitrate may look decent, but not too good, specially at a higher resolution, for lower resolutions this wouldn't seem as bad, specially at 512x or 480x. I wouldn't accept the encode myself unless I knew the bitrate was around 1800k or higher.

to be honest: BHD was just ordinary quality, not bad, not top notch either
