IRC chat modules take up a lot of system resources. I am not sure if the admin wants to sacrifice the CPU of teh dedicated server. plus, this site has a lot of users and server parsed php scripts, so it would slow down the site a bit

there are lots of users who help people here. I don't know about your problem, but make sure you post in the right topic.
I would like a chat here, but it would be hard and sacrificial.
unless there is a hack for vBulletin that is a chat, and uses the same mysql database to log users in and out, that would be coolComment
