@politics: well, americans have their tendencies to do stupid things, and electuing the young bush wasnt so smart either. no disrespect though.
jesse ventura (the wrestler) was elected a governor, marion berry (who had drug problems in the past) was elected a mayor, g.w. bush (also with some drugs in the past) is the president, reagan an actor was the presindent, nixon who liked to wear dresses was the president, etc. etc. etc. so why arnie shouldnt be the governor of cali?

"Nixon liked to wear dresses"...I think you're confusing your smears and thinking of what the left says of J Edgar Hoover. They hated him for his anticommunist stance...and loathed Nixon for nailing Alger Hiss. Hillary led the charge to get Nixon at the Watergate hearings. The left still call Nixon's tactics "McCartyist"even though the KGB identified Hiss AND Harry Hopkins (The architects of Yalta, the A-Bomb tech transfer, the ceding of Eastern Europe (ie Poland), and the Cold War) as being their agents in 1990.

Alger Hiss ( like Clinton) was a communist rabble rouser on campus during the thirties before FDR hand-picked him to be a deputy Secretary of State (He met with Stalin and worked out the terms of the Yalta conference.) Harry Hopkins was an FDR friend who lived at the White House and served as FDR's backchannel to Stalin (because of his direct ins.) That way the two leaders could coordinate efforts. There are those that think that for all the socialist programs FDR tried the only thing that pulled us out of the depression was WWII...and Yalta was where the post-WWII plans were made...and to continue the need for expanding the government bureaucratic sector by contriving a "Cold War"...thus insuring economic prosperity (for the public sector).

In the eyes of Europeans, American's politic is stupid or crazy because of the growing in economics, military and or any other aspect of life. I do sympathize with your opinion.
With something about other government official, well, we don't care about their past. All we care is the current time and the future; so everyone has a chance to do good things for life...

I didn't identify Hiss and Hopkins as KGB agents...the KGB did...in 1990, 40 years after the fact (and after the collapse of the USSR). Were I to say that before the KGB said it was true I'd be called an extremist McCarthyite. I wonder how long it takes the KGB's successor, the FSB, to identify Clinton...and get a belly laugh at the stupid "educated" "liberals".
