use "clonyxxl" to determine the type of protection, then burn with "alcohol 120%", making sure you choose the correct type of protection emulation. info can easily be found at http://www.afterdawn.com

use alcohol 120% to make the mds/mdf image files on your hard disk, making sure you select all appropriate emulation options, then burn with the matching safedisc profile

don't know... are you sure you followed the steps in the links above? that method has always worked for me ( i have backed up around 10 recent games, both cd and dvd)

yes you can, as long as the disc is a dvd. but dvd decrypter (and other such programs) remove copy protection. the game will install from the backed-up disc, but will refuse to run if you put it in when you are asked to. so to play the game, you must have the original in the drive. there are several ways to bypass this, though. you can get a "fixed exe" from the internet, which allows you to play without the disc, or you can get a "mini image" that creates a virtual drive that the game "runs" off.
