Not always possible because of CD copy protection, but there may be tools that allow you to do that here:

(yes I know, it's sort of against forum rules to link to this site, but it's well known enough)

if you cannot simnply use nero, try my method:

use "clonyxxl" to determine the type of protection, then burn with "alcohol 120%", making sure you choose the correct type of protection emulation. info can easily be found at http://www.afterdawn.com

i used a ray scanner instead it is much better.anyway it said this when i scanned....

signs on CD/DVD indicate SafeDisc 2.60

i wish these companys would just let ppl make back ups easily instead of farting around with this crappy copy protection.

use alcohol 120% to make the mds/mdf image files on your hard disk, making sure you select all appropriate emulation options, then burn with the matching safedisc profile

don't know... are you sure you followed the steps in the links above? that method has always worked for me ( i have backed up around 10 recent games, both cd and dvd)

this method has always worked flawlessly for me, but seeing as it does not work for you, search http://www.afterdawn.com forums

they have other methods, i'm sure

yes you can, as long as the disc is a dvd. but dvd decrypter (and other such programs) remove copy protection. the game will install from the backed-up disc, but will refuse to run if you put it in when you are asked to. so to play the game, you must have the original in the drive. there are several ways to bypass this, though. you can get a "fixed exe" from the internet, which allows you to play without the disc, or you can get a "mini image" that creates a virtual drive that the game "runs" off.
